Digital Cyber Cherries has released an official gameplay trailer for Paranormal Tales, showcasing what is possibly the most impressive thing we have seen in the horror gaming scene in months. This PC-exclusive horror game, inspired by PT and utilizing Unreal Engine 5, features a body cam perspective and found footage-style gameplay that makes you feel like you are part of a VHS horror movie. For those who are new to Hornimal Tales, the release is scheduled for October 2023.
Stray Souls
After more than a year in development, we finally got a glimpse of Stray Souls about a week ago. Coming in at number two, this story-driven psychological survival horror game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 4, and is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and 2. Set to release by the end of the year, Stray Souls combines Japanese survival horror elements with a Western Paranormal Activity style, featuring shifting components and challenging puzzles.
Fort Solis
Fort Solis, one of the most highly anticipated horror games of the year, will finally be released on PC and PlayStation 5 in Fall 2023. Recently, a new gameplay trailer was released, showcasing the new game engine, the psychological aspects of the game, and the promised space horror elements. For those who are new to Fort Solis, it is a single-player, third-person thriller set on the far side of Mars, in an unexplored location.
Pneumata
If you’re a fan of Lovecraftian horror games, we have something new for you from a first-time publisher-developer. It’s a psychological survival horror game called Pneumata, with a detective-style investigation set in a mysterious city where people have disappeared. It’s a mix of puzzle horror and first-person shooter elements. Check it out, as the game is set to be released exclusively on PC by the end of the year.
Beneath
At number five, we have the most highly anticipated title from the studio behind “Those Who Remain”. It’s called “Beneath”, and was recently described by the developers as a heart-pounding first-person horror adventure game that takes place in the mysterious depths of the ocean. Although the only trailer available was released last month, the game will be available on PC and next-generation consoles in 2024.
Layers of Fear
Bloober Team has recently released a new trailer and announced a release date of June 2023 for “Layers of Fear: Inheritance”, which is actually a remake of “Layers of Fear” and “Layers of Fear 2”. These Welsh horror adventure games were first released in 2020 and are being developed using Unreal Engine 5, with completely new designs. The games will be available on PC and next-generation consoles in June.
Shame Legacy
About 14 days ago, we learned about a new first-person survival horror game from a well-known duo of developers. The game is called “Shame Legacy” and is set in a forsaken 19th-century village filled with cultists. Your goal is to survive using stealth and escape mechanics, while solving puzzles to uncover the story and find a way out. All the while, you’ll be pursued by a sinister entity known as the Shame Legacy. The game will be available on all consoles starting on May 30th.
Ad Infinitum
Ad Infinitum, one of the most anticipated first-person survival horror games, has been in development for a long time. The game focuses on atmosphere and storytelling, depicting the post-traumatic events of a German World War soldier. We mentioned the game a couple of weeks ago, but here’s a quick reminder: the game will finally be released on PC and next-generation consoles in September, instead of the previously planned release date of April. A.I.L.A
The developers of the PC horror game “Phobia” from June last year are back with their next survival horror game, called “Project Aiola”. They have been working on this game since then, using Unreal Engine 5 to create an atmospheric puzzle horror experience. The first official gameplay trailer for the game was released about a week ago, and it’s set to be released on PC and next-generation consoles sometime next year. INOUT
About two months ago, Inout announced a co-op four-player horror game called “In Then Out”, about a little town whose locals are afraid of an old mansion they believe to be possessed by an evil maniac, similar to the TV series “Haunting of Hill House”. In the game, you become a member of a team of exorcists and try to expel the evil from the mansion. The game is set to release on April 14 for PCs only.
