Apple has refreshed nearly the entire iPad lineup this year, except for the entry-level model, which hasn’t seen an update since 2022. But it looks like the company is finally working on a new version, as a source claims the iPad 11 is set to launch in early 2025.

Expected iPad 11 release dates

A reliable anonymous account on X shared on Monday that Apple plans to launch the iPad 11 early next year, coinciding with the public release of iPadOS 18.3. The source claims the new tablet will come with the updated software pre-installed.

Last week, Apple rolled out the first beta of iPadOS 18.3 to developers. While it didn’t introduce any major new features, it did include preparations for adding support for vacuum cleaner robots in the Home app. It’s likely Apple has been working behind the scenes to optimize iPadOS 18.3 for the upcoming iPad 11.

The iOS and iPadOS “.3” updates usually roll out in late January. Earlier, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mentioned that Apple is likely to launch the iPad 11 in spring 2025, starting in March. Which gives us a clearer idea of when the new entry-level iPad might arrive.

A leaker also backed up reports that the iPad 11 will feature Apple’s first wireless modem, enabling both Wi-Fi and 5G connectivity.

Turns out, Apple has been working on an iPad with the same A14 chip found in the current iPad 10 — a detail 9to5Mac also heard from its own sources. However, the leaker clarified that this iPad was just a prototype to test a new modem. The final version is expected to feature a faster chip, possibly the A17 Pro like the iPad mini, to support Apple Intelligence.

Right now, Apple sells the iPad 10 for $349 but you can snag it for as low as $279 on Amazon. Still we’d suggest holding off for the upcoming iPad 11.

There’s also buzz about Apple launching a new iPhone SE and an updated iPad Air in spring 2025. Chances are, they’ll all be unveiled during a special event or a series of announcements.
