1. Endless Dungeon
I would say that probably the most anticipated game in this genre since its announcement is Endless Dungeon, which is technically the second title in the Endless universe. Some of you might already be familiar with it, known as Endless Dungeon. Endless Dungeon is a roguelite tactical action shooter, almost to the point of being a tower defense game. In this game, you will need to recruit a team of heroes and fight against these never-ending waves of monsters. The game is set to release exclusively on PC in approximately two months 2023.
3. Castle Craft
Debuting as the first project from its developers, standing out as one of the finest within its genre, we now turn our attention to the third entry. Castle Craft, also known as Kubi Quest: CastleCraft, takes the spotlight. This single-player experience amalgamates action, tower defense, and real-time strategy elements seamlessly. At its core, the main challenge is constructing massive castles to conquer battles set in an ancient, war-ravaged realm inhabited by humans and dragons. Accompanied by a trailer, this voxel-based game is exclusively arriving on PC platforms later August 2023.
4. The Front
Presently available on Steam via Early Access for just one month, its full release is anticipated by year’s end, exclusively for PCs. Moving on to the fourth entry, we delve into First Front. Set in a post-apocalyptic sandbox universe, replete with zombie-like mutants and diverse monstrous factions, First Front stands as a multiplayer endeavor. Within this framework, you engage in combat within a tower-defense-style environment. I encourage you to explore further and take a look. Notably, First front is a PC exclusive and is projected to launch in late 2023.
5. First Dwarf
Announce one year ago today, we move on to the fifth game is First Dwarf. This is an action RPG tower defense adventure brought to us by the same developers behind Driftland. Representing their latest creation, First Dwarf presents a charmingly cartoony yet profoundly immersive experience. Within its framework, you’ll find a blend of base-building, survival, and exploration elements, all set in an open world comprised of sky-floating islands. The trailer primarily highlights the game’s combat mechanics. Anticipated to launch on PC, Switch, and various other consoles, First Dwarf is expected to make its debut in the early months of 2024.
6. Dune Mechanic: Survive The Steampunk Era
Another first-person survival sandbox strategy tower defense style shooter on our list is Dune Mechanic. Dune Mechanic: Survived the steampunk era, which is as suggested by the title, a post-apocalyptic shooter set in a steampunk world. In this world, people can no longer live on the ground. The game revolves around a character whose flying airship’s engines break down, leading to a crash landing. The objective is to gather enough resources to repair the ship and take flight again. Be sure to check out the trailer for the game. It’s scheduled for release later 2023.
7. Dread Dawn

On the other hand, Dread Dawn is an open-world zombie survival top-down shooter, much like the Alien: Isolation games. The storyline follows a military protagonist who intended to leave town during an evacuation due to a sudden zombie outbreak. However, complications arise, leaving him stranded and compelled to navigate through the daily struggle of survival in a nightmarish scenario. Alongside saving other survivors, the game draws parallels with Resident Evil and incorporates the suspenseful ambiance of Alien: Isolation. The gameplay also offers substantial upgrading, strategy building, and crafting components.
8. Hostile Mars
Reverting to shooters once again, our attention now shifts to a skill-based third-person sandbox survival shooter titled Hostile Mars. This game stands as a unique fusion, positioned halfway between a factory-building game and a combat-intensive experience. Its core emphasizes massive battles and the onslaught of diverse enemy waves in each round. Commencing with a basic firearm, players progress to construct bases using resources obtained through eliminations, subsequently upgrading and employing these structures for defense. Exclusively available for PC, Hostile Mars is set to launch in beta later 2023.
9. Legendary Hoplite
Since last week, an available demo on Steam introduces us to a fusion of action RPGs and Tower Defense games in the form of Legendary Hoplite. Within this game, your objective is to thwart the annihilation of humanity by the hands of monsters derived from Greek mythology, alongside navigating ancient traps. As you progress, you’ll unlock distinct troops, enhance skills, and erect towers in an effort to impede encroaching enemies aiming to breach the gate. The Legendry Hoplite is slated for a December release 2023, exclusively for PCs.
10. Siege of Irdor
Siege of Irdor is a city-building strategy game set in a dark Medieval Times. As described by the team, fantasy and reality are supposed to collide. You build by day and defend the sieges you made by night to survive against the armies of Darkness. The game is basically settlers in formula, except the emphasis is just on building and fighting, a day and night cycle, and a lot of that as opposed to more farming. Check it out; the game is set to be coming to PCs only later 2023.
11. These Doomed Isles
Once again, available through a demo on Steam, we have These Doomed Isles. This is a single-player tower defense city-building strategy imbued with roguelike tech-building mechanics. If you’re familiar with Dora on the Lords, you’ll find a blend of that concept with a touch of Nintendo’s ‘Advance Wars’. These Doomed Isles game is set to release for PCs, expected in September 2023.
12. Cataclismo
Announced a month ago by IGN, moving on to number 12, we encounter Cataclismo with a demo currently available on Steam. This game embraces real-time strategy and tower defense elements, drawing substantial inspiration from Mana Lords. Within the gameplay, players assemble a castle from the ground up and position troops strategically across its expanse to fend off waves of enemies that assail during the night. Personally, I couldn’t help but notice its resemblance to the Stronghold Crusader games, although that’s just my observation. Notably, Cataclismo is exclusively slated for release on PCs.
13. Faraway Lands: Rise of Yokai
Lastly, but certainly not least, we have Faraway Lands: Rise of Yokai, which also marks the debut project of its developers. As I may have mentioned before, this game is an exploration-focused tower defense city-building simulation, drawing inspiration from Kingdom Crowns. The distinction between this and the Kingdom games lies in the fact that you oversee an entire village, managing resources, engaging in trade with neighboring cities, and ultimately fortifying against threats. Think of it as an extended version of Kingdom Crowns. Faraway Lands is set in ancient Japan, releasing exclusively for PCs in the third quarter of 2023.
