Project E
NCSOFT the Korean developers behind 100 games in development at the moment, around March last year came out with a reveal of two huge Samurai games with nothing but cinematic trailers. Going by the names Throne and Liberty, and something else called Project E. I’ve mentioned Throne and Liberty a lot, but Project E over here is based and set in the same time as Throne and Liberty and is more of a horror game in nature. These games are releasing for PCs and consoles, possibly next year.
Project Th
We have over here, once again, Project TH, a Splinter Cell inspired shooter. But, compared to the franchise, it is a more cinematic game, described by developers as a story-heavy, action-packed, third-person shooter. From Korean developers, Project TH is said to be released either in late 2023 or early next year for PCs and the next generation of consoles only.
Atlas Fallen
Number three, we have a game released just two months ago called Atlas Fallen, which is a purely action RPG. This game is from the same creators behind the Surge game, and the developers of Atlas Fallen, Vanquish Game, have implemented a Middle Eastern inspired theme into the game, with partially open world elements and a larger scale. The game has a trailer and is releasing on May 16th for PCs and the next generation of consoles only.
A.I.L.A
Coming from the same people who brought us “Phobia,” a PC horror game released in June of last year, Paulsedkilks (the game development team) has been working on their next survival horror game. Titled “Project A.I.L.A.,” it uses Unreal Engine 5 and is described as a rather atmospheric survival puzzle horror game. It is set to be released for PCs and the next generation of consoles only next year.
The Finals
At number five, I have mentioned this game before – Final Sitting. They recently released a free demo, which you can access by requesting it from the link provided on the page. This is a team-based co-op FPS game that is completely free to play. It is being developed by the same team that is currently working on All Creators, which is another huge game in development using the Unreal Engine 5. Final Sitting is already available on PC, and it is expected to be released for the next generation of consoles by the end of this year.
Repo Man
Another game from a few months ago is called The Repo Man, which is a first-person open-world RPG similar to Cyberpunk 2077, but with a Steampunk and fantasy twist. In the game, you play as a repo man, a collector who collects debts no matter what. This game combines cyberpunk game elements with an era, and it is set to release on PCs only, possibly by the end of this year.
Dead Island 2
As one of the most anticipated games of 2023, well as of April, not just that, but literally the longest-awaited sequel ever, Dead Island 2 is now releasing for PCs and both generations of consoles on April 21st. The release of the game actually went gold, meaning there will be no more delays. Dead Island 2 is set a few months after the events of the first game and takes place in an open-world Los Angeles under full quarantine restrictions due to an even worse outbreak this time.
Legend of Ymir
Legend of Ymir, on the other hand, is currently in the alpha stage and there hasn’t been any new updates on the project’s development plan. However, it’s confirmed to be releasing for PCS only sometime in 2023. There’s no new trailer or gameplay footage available as of now, and the last update we got from the project was in November last year. The game is described as a Norse mythology-inspired MMORPG built on the blockchain. If you missed it, take a look at the current take demo available.
Project RYU
Exactly a year ago on the same day, a team of six developers in Korea started working on Project Ryu, which is, if I’ve gathered correctly, an exploration-based, relaxed walking simulator set in a futuristic version of South Korea, possibly Seoul. The game is meant to showcase the capabilities of the Unreal Engine 5, especially its new feature called Lumen, and offer a truly next-generation, albeit indie, experience. As of now, the only trailer available for the game is the one they released a year ago.
Immortal of Aveum
At number 9, we have Immortals of Aveum. It is described as a single-player, first-person, magic shooter that combines the fast-paced combat of Call of Duty games with spellcasting and fantasy elements. Here’s some in-game footage, and the game is a next-generation console exclusive.
Night Crows
And now, announced roughly a week ago and resurfacing with a gameplay trailer about 24 hours ago, made inside Korea by the same developers currently working on Legend of Ymir, here we have the company’s newest MMORPG hacking slasher, partially Souls-like, going by the name Night Crows. Because Night Crows is built with the use of Unreal Engine 5, it’s a PC exclusive and said to be coming out at its earliest by the end of the year.
