In this article, I am sharing a list of 8 best upcoming survival and building games, whether you are a fan of adventure, a zombie lover, or interested in post-apocalyptic worlds.
Nightingale
From The Game Awards last year, a game was technically first revealed as one of the most innovative first-person shooters: Wave Area. With a new trailer released today, we now know that the game is called Nightingale, which is mainly a crafting-based, building-strategy, survival, open-world, multiplayer game. Initially, it was a PC exclusive, but Nightingale is said to be released around July this year, and it is currently one of the biggest first-person, open-world shooters, as well as survival games on the horizon. If you missed it, check it out!
Outbreak Island
At number 2, we have a game that may not be that new either, called Outbreak Island. Technically, it is a survival, first-person, detective-inspired game, where you’re there to investigate the mysteries of an island and stay alive at any cost, armed with only a camera. Outbreak Island’s story is about some sort of experiment gone wrong on an island, which has turned the island’s population into maniacs. The game is partially open-world, with hints of zombies as well. Watch the trailer above.
Rooted
Coming up next, we have a game called Rooted. I actually mentioned this game last month. This is a survival game that almost seems cloned off of The Last of Us, using Unreal Engine 5. It is still in the very early stages of development, but it is said to be released in a few months from now. Once released, it will support co-op, a day and night cycle, seasonal shifts, and more. In terms of the story, the team has promised to come up with something in the following months.
Serum
Coming up behind that game from developers Game Island, from a few months ago, we have what’s called Serum. It is a first-person survival game, developed by Square, where you are mainly supposed to craft, hunt, adapt, and survive in a forest that’s been poisoned by something like a serum, hence the title. Not only are the jungle and its animals affected, but the inhabitants, too, have turned into zombie-like maniacs. Anyway, here’s a trailer for the game, which is said to be coming only to PCs.
Starship Survivor
At number 5, we have Starship Survivor, a co-op first-person shooter in which you, along with a bunch of other people, are tasked to investigate the lost communications of an orbiting starship. This game is not really a survival game; it actually has hints of thriller and horror themes about an AI entity that’s invading the galaxy. Your goal is not to get rid of them but to just survive with your team in co-op. Anyway, it’s a little like Halo and Dead Space.
Bucko
Moving on, we have a game called Bucko, an action-adventure, one-to-four player pirate open world live sim. As described by the Steam page, you explore islands, combat your enemies on land and sea, build bases, and hopefully earn some reputation. Technically, this game is a strategy game, but with ship battling, crafting, and base-building elements, so it has all the aspects of a pirate’s life’s journey. Anyway, Bucko is said to come out only for PCs, possibly in a few months.
Asteroid Impact Survival
Coming up next, we have Impact Survival, basically an asteroid simulation game where you have to prepare yourself for the end of the world, in this case, an asteroid impact. In this survival game, you play the role of a regular guy trying to live through an inevitable catastrophe that will happen in the next 30 days. So, you’re just there to find a way out of the situation or go through with it. This game is coming to PCs only sometime later this year.
Retreat To Enen
Last but not least, we have Retreat to Enon, which has finally come out of its Early Access phase. It is a survival sandbox wildlife simulation game where you play around 1500 years into the future, and you still have to fight off wild animals to survive. If the survival aspects of the previous games didn’t really interest you, this game is more about exploration and relaxation. It has everything from base-building to crafting and simulating the future, using futuristic designs and alien structures, and dealing with new hazards. Watch the trailer above.
Hope you get idea how many and what game’s coming in 2023 for pc in the category of Survival and Buildings. Drop in the comment which one you want play.
