Design

A 14.5-inch display is included on the Lenovo Tab Extreme. It’s not the lightest tablet either, weighing 740 grammes. It’s better suited for use on a desk or table rather than being handled for lengthy periods of time because of its size and weight. Although the display is surrounded by thin bezels, the design is elegant and contemporary. A touch of elegance is added by the top glass strip and recycled aluminium frame. The aluminium frame is resistant to scratches and oil, although the glass strip can become greasy. Additionally, the optional protective cover guards against scratches and functions as a stand for the tablet. A classy appearance is provided by the storm grey version of the Lenovo Tab Extreme tablet.
Security

When it comes to security, the Lenovo Tab Extreme offers multiple options. The power button on the edge of the tablet features a built-in fingerprint sensor for quick and secure unlocking. Although it may take a couple of taps to register a fingerprint initially, it functions well once set up correctly. In addition to the fingerprint sensor, the tablet also supports face unlock as a backup option. While face unlock can sometimes take a few seconds to work, it provides an alternative method for unlocking the device.
ZUI and Features

The Lenovo Tab Extreme tablet runs on Android 13 with Lenovo’s customized user interface, called ZUI, on top. Despite the customizations, the user interface maintains a stock Android feel. One notable addition is the entertainment space, which replaces the Google Discover feed when the tablet is held horizontally. The entertainment space suggests content based on your preferences, such as movies, games, books, and music. ZUI also includes features optimized for the large display, enhancing the overall user experience. Lenovo promises three major operating system upgrades and four years of security updates, ensuring the tablet remains up-to-date for an extended period. Connectivity-wise, the tablet supports Wi-Fi 6E and optional 5G for faster and more reliable internet access.
Display

The Lenovo Tab Extreme’s standout feature is undoubtedly its massive 14.5-inch display. With a resolution of 3000 by 1876 pixels, the visuals are incredibly crisp and vibrant. The tablet features LED display with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, making it perfect for both entertainment and productivity. The contrast is impressive, although the glossy surface may cause some glare when used outdoors. The tablet supports up to 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth navigation and fluid UI interactions. While some users initially experienced screen responsiveness issues, a recent update has addressed these concerns, resulting in a more seamless user experience.
Multi-Tasking

The size of the Lenovo Tab Extreme makes it an ideal device for multitasking. The ability to four apps running simultaneously in a split-screen setup. Setting up the split-screen is relatively straightforward, and you can easily rearrange the windows to suit your preferences. However, not all the apps are fully optimized for split-screen mode, and some may not work smoothly.
Fortunately, Lenovo has recently added support for popular apps like YouTube and run Drive, which were previously unavailable. This improvement brings a sense of relief to users who rely on these apps for their productivity. In addition to the split-screen functionality, the Lenovo Tab Extreme Tablet also supports floating windows, allowing users to have up to 10 windows open simultaneously. However, running multiple apps side by side may result in some performance issues, causing occasional slowdowns. Lenovo is continuously working to address these minor issues through future updates, ensuring a better multitasking experience for users.
Audio
When it comes to sound, the Lenovo Tab Extreme boasts eight JBL speakers that deliver an immersive audio experience. You’ll fill an entire house with sound just be careful not to deafen yourself if you venture too close. Imagine boosting the volume all the way up— it’s like the Zenfone 10, one of my favorite smartphones of 2023. The sound quality remains crystal clear even at the highest volume levels. With Dolby Atmos support, the tablet offers rich and immersive audio, providing plenty of depth and clarity.

However, there are a minor complaints. Firstly, when the Lenovo Tab Extreme is in landscape mode, which is typically used for watching videos, the volume rocker’s functionality is reversed. Pressing the left volume button increases the volume, while the right button decreases it, which is trouble. It would have made more sense to flip the controls when in landscape mode, as it works well in portrait mode when volume adjustment is less frequent. Secondly, the tablet lacks a headphone jack. However, the Bluetooth 5.3 wireless streaming works flawlessly, allowing you to enjoy audio wirelessly. Additionally, the Lenovo Tab Extreme can serve as a secondary display for other devices by connecting them to the USB 2.0 port at the bottom, which is DisplayPort compatible. It also supports output to another display using the middle USB 3.2 connection.
Precision Pen 3

You have the option to purchase lenovo tab extreme with the stylus pen, which conveniently tucks into a small curve on the back of the folio cover. With the Precision Pen stylus, you may not experience the same natural feeling of sketching on paper as you would with some competitors, such as the Boots tabs. However, it offers a responsive experience. The Precision Pen stylus can also function as a remote control for the Lenovo Tab Extreme, which can be useful for business professionals who often give presentations or need to navigate slideshows. Additionally, the stylus has an anti-loss prevention alarm. If walk away from your tablet while leaving the pen behind, you will receive a notification on your tablet, reminding you to retrieve it. I appreciate the storage solution provided by the folio cover, as you can simply store the pen away when you’re done using it. This is also how the pen charges up, ensuring it’s always ready for use.
Keyboard Dock

The optional keyboard accessory that comes with the Tab Extreme. Using the keyboard is a breeze—simply attach the tablet, and you’ll hear a confirmation sound indicating that they have paired up. The tablet sits slightly elevated above the keyboard, allowing for a comfortable typing position. You can adjust the angle to a certain extent, it doesn’t offer much flexibility beyond that, making it less ideal for use on your lap. It’s best suited for placement on a desk or table. The keyboard itself is spacious, similar to many laptop keyboards, which makes typing a comfortable and speedy experience. Despite being a keyboard cover, the key travel is somewhat shallow, but I still found touch typing on it to be enjoyable. There are a few minor complaints like the presence of a single row Enter key, which may take some getting used to. The touchpad, is quite small, but considering the tablet’s touchscreen capability, it’s not a major concern.
Lenovo Tab Extreme Cameras

If you frequently engage in video chats, you’ll appreciate the tablet’s front-facing camera. Lenovo Tab Extreme has a 13-megapixel sensor located in the small top bezel. Despite its compact size, it offers a wide view and angle, allowing you to fit a lot into the frame. The front camera can record videos in up to 4K resolution. While the visuals may not appear truly Ultra HD when viewed back, they are more than sufficient for video conferencing on platforms like Microsoft Teams and Skype. The camera performs well in HDR-style situations, ensuring you look clear and vibrant even when sitting in front of a bright window. Additionally, the front camera includes features like auto panning and zooming, as well as AI noise cancellation, which enhances the audio quality during video calls.
On the back of the Lenovo Tab Extreme tablet, you’ll find a dual-lens rear camera setup. The main shooter features a 13-megapixel sensor, while there is also a basic ultra-wide-angle lens. However, I must express my personal opinion on using tablets for everyday photography and videography— it’s not something I recommend. It’s a practice I find questionable, as tablets are not the most convenient or ergonomic devices for capturing photos and videos. In fact, I believe it makes even less sense to use a tablet the size of the Lenovo Tab Extreme as a camera due to its larger dimensions. So, while the tablet does offer rear camera capabilities, I would suggest utilizing a dedicated camera or smartphone for capturing your everyday moments.
Battery life
The Lenovo Tab Extreme is equipped with a large 12,300mAh capacity battery, which provides impressive longevity. It’s more convenient to measure the battery life in terms of days rather than hours. With mixed use, I experienced approximately 15 to 20 hours of battery life, depending on the tasks I was performing. This means the tablet can easily last me a couple of days before requiring a recharge. This endurance surpasses that of most laptops I have recently tested, let alone other tablets. Despite the tablet’s substantial battery size, it doesn’t take an eternity to recharge. The included 68-watt power adapter ensures a quick charging time, allowing you to be ready for action in no time at all.
Final Thought
And there you have it, my honest review of the Lenovo Tab Extreme. It’s a pretty impressive device, especially if you’re looking for a tablet that excels in multitasking. Whether you want to be productive or simply enjoy entertainment, the stunning display will not disappoint. The added flexibility provided by the stylus and keyboard dock is a nice bonus, enhancing the overall user experience. The battery life is truly remarkable, offering long hours of usage before needing a recharge. There are a few issues and that could use some attention, but I have confidence that Lenovo will address them promptly.
